Families often have concerns related to learning, behavior, or cognition in a child. We can help shed light on the nature of these concerns, and help to find solutions.
We provide assessments for ADHD, and learning disorders related to reading, writing, or mathematics development (also known as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia). Giftedness is also an area of expertise. We can provide consultations regarding school assessment results, 504 plans and Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
We offer comprehensive autism evaluations for toddlers and children of all ages. Dr. Durrett is trained in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2), the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R), and the Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing the Autism Spectrum-2 (MIGDAS-2), all of which are well established and validated measures of autism spectrum disorder.
For children with neurological conditions, we can provide insights about how brain disorders or congenital conditions affect thinking, learning, and behavior. This can include diagnoses such as epilepsy, hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and other neurological conditions, as well as chromosomal conditions. Our goal is not just to find a diagnosis, but to connect families with resources and strategies to resolve behavioral concerns and maximize learning potential.
We often work with children who are in the foster care system. These children may have complex histories including trauma, questions of attachment disorder, or prenatal alcohol/drug exposure. Dr. Durrett is specifically trained in fetal alcohol syndrome assessment.
